EPL 2016-17: Arsenal v Liverpool in opener; Mourinho V Guardiola on Sept 10
Kicking-off
on the weekend commencing Saturday 13 August, the new campaign will
begin with defending champions Leicester City facing a trip to play
newly-promoted Hull City.
There’s
also a London derby in store as new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte and his
team host West Ham United at Stamford Bridge. With two new managers in
situ at both Manchester clubs, City’s Pep Guardiola has a home start as
the Blues will play Sunderland at the Etihad Stadium and Jose Mourinho
will take his United team to face AFC Bournemouth. And another stand-out
fixture on the opening weekend sees Arsenal against Liverpool at the
Emirates Stadium and all three promoted sides kick-off at home with
Championship winners Burnley tackling Swansea City and Middlesbrough
facing Stoke City.
West
Ham will have to wait a week before the Premier League’s newest venue
is unveiled, when they play AFC Bournemouth at the Olympic Stadium in
Stratford on Saturday 20 August. Supporters in Manchester won’t have
long to wait for their first derby match as United take on City at Old
Trafford in the fourth game of the season on the weekend of 10
September.
The
first north London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur comes on
5 November at the Emirates Stadium, whilst fans on Merseyside must wait
until 17 December before Everton play Liverpool at Goodison Park and a
first chance of local bragging rights.
The final day of the season is on Sunday 21 May 2017.
